While South Korea has been busy launching their Satelite-based mobile TV service, Nokia, Granada Ventures and ROK Player are launching the world’s first full-length movie pre-loaded on memory cards. Anyone with a memory card compatible handset is free to watch the full 142 minute movie whenever and wherever they are - even outside of mobile coverage areas.
“The ROK Player is carried on patent-pending Digital Video Chip™ (DVC™) technology that slots into the phone’s multi-media card holder. It works with a wide range of multi-media card compatible phones. The Digital Video Chip slots into the reader, and the handset is then ready to show full-screen, feature length video content.”
The first movie they are launching is the timeless classic: The Shawshank Redemption. Now, to find a spare 142 minutes while you’re out and about…
